I’m loathe to upload this presentation because really the slides accompany me (not the other way around) and there’s a ton of really important subtext and dialog that goes along with them, but I’m getting hammered with requests to release the deck, so here it is.
I will be giving this presentation at various venues over the next few months as well as the second in the series titled “Cloudifornication: Indiscriminate Information Intercourse Involving Internet Infrastructure.”

I enjoyed the presentation/info, thanks for sharing this — Personally I’m most interested in the Hybrid Model a’la “GoGrid Cloud Connect” because I need to connect to multiple private networks and other equipment (Hardware Security Modules, etc) over leased lines typically over TCP sockets.

I’m routinely involved in discussions of federal systems and cloud computing, and you can imagine how frequently that basic question (“you have a risk assessment methodology, right?”) comes up. Existing federal guidelines [FIPS199/OMB 08-21/NIST 800-53] are actually compatible with cloud computing, but knowing your data/system risk profile and engaging with your service provider regarding controls are indeed essential.

Chris – a great presentation to articulate many of the security issues we’re wrestling with. Luckily most executives understand that security is an issue with cloud computing, they just dont know what to do once they get it. I’d like to see more discussion around private clouds in regards to the federal space, as John Curran mentions above.
